First wooden free-form houses Museum of Bread!

COOP HIMMELB(L)AU designed PANEUM – Wunderkammer des Brotes is the first wooden building in free form!
Meticulously planned, this customer information centre and event forum for the company Backaldrin in Asten, Austria, is an iconic structure comprising two elements: a box-shaped plinth building with foyer and event rooms that can be used for a variety of presentations, receptions or workshops for up to 120 visitors and the Wunderkammer des Brotes (Museum of Bread), a two-storey freeform exhibition area floating on top. The square base building shows a cast-in-place concrete façade while the rounded wood structure of the museum is clad with stainless steel shingles.

A centrally chiselled circular atrium is at once the cynosure of all eyes as it is flanked by a robust spiral staircase that invites visitors to pause awhile and take in the exhibited items from various perspectives. The stair provides access to the two exhibition levels, where the objects are displayed with the help of walls, tables, and cabinets that are integrated into the architecture. It further allows for striking vertical displays that take on a chandelier-like appearance, adding on to the visual appeal of the commanding building. The raw aesthetic of the interior is augmented by its self-supporting wood shell with its layers of cross-laminated timber and the natural light that filters in from above the atrium. This method of construction enables the realization of the free form and the high degree of prefabrication with 3D CNC technology that is precision-driven and cuts valuable construction time. It is a step into the future of construction; as Design Principal, COOP HIMMELB(L)AU, Wolf D. Prix says, “3D plotting, 3D milling and building with robots – that is the future of building.”

Annual travel insurance Some alarming statistics

Annual travel insurance Some alarming statistics

Statistics relating to public understanding of the need for single or yearly travel insurance are truly terrible.
That means a large number of people leave the UK every year without proper cover – and the results can be disastrous.

Terrible facts

Regardless of the government’s efforts and the insurance industry to draw people’s attention to the importance of travel insurance:

• Almost a quarter of all people travel out of the UK without insurance • That number increases by almost 50% for people in the 15-24 year age group.

To understand why these numbers should be alarming, keep in mind that on 2011/12:

• Every day, an average of 10 UK people are hospitalized while abroad

Why Do People Not Take Closures?

There is no definite answer to the question but it is possible to draw two definite conclusions. Annual travel insurance Some alarming statistics

First, higher statistics in the 15-24 age range indicate that young people may suffer the invincible illusion of youth and the syndrome “will never happen to me”. Unfortunately, they are too often wrong.

That’s especially true for this age group, as they are most likely to exercise strenuous sports, hazardous sports or related activities.

A second and more worrying cause is the false belief that the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) provides ‘free health insurance’. Almost 20% of all age groups consider that the problem.

In fact, apart from only one or two non-EU European countries with affiliates, EHIC does not cover any other country outside the EU. Even in the EU country, EHIC covers only medical expenses that can also be free from local residents in the country itself. Therefore, it will not cover such things as medical repatriation, additional hotel and flight costs for health care providers etc.

The falsely linked assumption of about 17% of travelers without a single trip or annual travel insurance is that somehow the UK government will pay for their medical repatriation, if that need arises. That is not the case at all and even if the government does help, they may take legal action to return the money from you once back in England.

Cost Annual travel insurance Some alarming statistics

The above statistics are alarming in themselves, but it is even more alarming because of poor awareness of how expensive medical care abroad.

In the United States, for example, major surgery and medical care can easily generate bills that reach hundreds of thousands of pounds – or even millions in extreme cases. It is not often recognized that in some situations, some countries may refuse to provide medical assistance to you unless you can indicate that you have the means to pay for it – usually a single or annual travel insurance.

Conclusion

The current level of misunderstanding regarding the risks and potential costs of medical care abroad coupled with significant confusion regarding the role of EHIC causes a large number of British people to travel abroad each year with little or no cover.

This must be resolved as soon as possible through some form of publicity campaign that is relaunched.

A single travel insurance, family or good travel insurance is usually not expensive and is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Art Collecting Dolls
Picking up dolls is a popular pastime not only for children but also for adults. Casual fans usually have a small collection of dolls at home, while serious collectors can have large collections on display.

Whether you are interested in collecting dolls as a hobby or you want to invest time and money for this activity, you should know the basics of the hobby first, and learn as much as possible before starting officially. History of Dolls

Dolls have been around since ancient times. Wooden dolls were found in Egyptian tombs in early 2000 BC while those made of ivory, wood, or clay had existed in the Roman Empire around 100 BC. Ancient Japanese dolls use dolls not only as toys but also in religious ceremonies, while Africans believe that puppets are used by their gods to convey messages. Art Collecting Dolls

There are many famous and popular dolls throughout history. Teddy Bear is a pioneer in the doll industry, capturing the hearts of countless children and adults. The first doll bear was produced in the early 20th century, and was named after former US president Theodore Roosevelt after he refused to shoot a black bear caught on one of his hunting trips.

The Barbie doll is an iconic fashion doll that defines a young girl generation in the 1960s. Famous for its hourglass but the anatomical figure is wrong, Barbie has evolved from a genuine blonde and brunette to different hair and skin colors to better represent its diverse market. Type of Doll

There are many types of dolls around the world. Before starting your collection, it is advisable to know the most common and determine which ones you want to focus on. Art Collecting Dolls

1. Wooden puppets – Wooden puppets including the oldest existing dolls. Parents make dolls for their children to be used as toys and goods for different custom ceremonies. An example of a popular wooden doll is a Russian matryoshka doll, a set of smaller dolls with one doll fitted in the other.

2. Fabric dolls – Like wooden dolls, fabric dolls are also made for ceremonial purposes. The earliest cloth dolls belong to a wealthy Egyptian family that is well preserved in their tombs.

3. Papier Mache dolls – Manufacturers started producing Mache doll pulp in the 1820s, mostly in the United States, Britain and Germany. The heads of the dolls are often sold separately from their bodies and then concentrated or sprinkled together to complement the doll.

7. Composition dolls – Doll composition found in the United States, and made of different materials, such as sawdust, cornstarch, resin, wood flour and glue. They are considered heavier than the fragile dolls produced in other countries.

8. Rubber doll – Rubber doll or latex became famous in the 1940s because it has a more realistic texture. Today, many otaku buy latex love dolls as part of their collection.

9. Hard plastic dolls – Hard plastic dolls are more durable than ceramic or cloth dolls. This is the main reason why they are widespread since the 1940s. They also have a more detailed appearance, and more lively eyes, fingers and toes.

10. Vinyl dolls – Vinyl is the most common material used for dolls today. These dolls are unbreakable but flexible, and more realistic in their drawings. Reasons for Collecting Dolls

For newcomers to barge holidays, all barges may look the same. However, there are many types of ships with striking differences in history and design. This model evolved over 200 years, adapting to changing conditions and technology. In Europe, the barge – ships barges – connecting the English Channel, Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. Here is a brief overview of the most common vessels you might encounter on your barge vacation.
Tjalks and Klippers Barge Type: Know Your Spitzen From Your Clip

This barging tradition can be traced back to the seventeenth century. Originally wind-powered Tjalks were built of wood; In the nineteenth century, ship builders began to consider the possibility of iron and on twentieth century steel properties exploited by this industry. Therefore, the modern version of Tjalk is constructed of iron or steel, yet retains the stern arch of indigenous wood.

Designed for fast-flowing estuaries and rivers in the Netherlands, the tough Klipper is always built of iron or steel. The use of steel leads to a stronger vessel, although this introduces the danger of corrosion. Klipper’s steering sat under a stern round and ridden with wheels. Beurtmotor and Luxemotor

Beurtmotor is used for passengers and cargo and often travels to a reliable schedule, replacing steam-powered steamers. It became even more popular with the introduction of diesel engines because their scheduling was more consistent than ever before. Like other barges, Beurtmotor was built to navigate the shallow waters – anywhere between 3 and about 10 feet of water. However this is not a limitation, as most inland waters in western Europe conform to this requirement.

Luxemotor trailblazing was built in the early 20th century and was the first barge to have its own machine. Driving on Beurtmotor’s success, they are quite luxurious with plenty of space – including kitchens and toilets – as well as a pointy bow that is ideal for more open waters.

Spitz

Spitz has a long and varied history. They were built to the standard of Freycinet imposed by Napoleon during the standardization period, and the ship was first withdrawn by hand (or horse). However, after the Second World War many Belgian Spitz ships were kitted out with tank machines that were often disabled. With some adjustments at the stern to fix the wheel, the Spitz Motor version is designed for canals in France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

European Air Line: Our Fleet

The European Airway fleet includes a barge with lots of history behind them. Vacation barges match the history lover and cruise ship enthusiasts. For example, L’Art de Vivre – the oldest fleet – is an English model and built in the First World War to supply allied forces in the Somme. The beautiful Rosa is the Dutch Clipper carrying a variety of cargo in the early 20th century Dutch. Cruising the Canal de Briare: a Barger’s Delight

Cruising the Canal de Briare: a Barger’s Delight

The picturesque Canal de Briare, which connects the valleys of the Seine and the Loire, is notable for a number of reasons apart from the delightful scenery through which it wends its way. A popular route for both private and commercial cruising vessels, the canal is renowned as one of the loveliest places for a barge holiday in France as well as being a highly impressive feat of engineering.
A Pioneering History

The canal is one of the country’s oldest manmade waterways, built between 1602 and 1642 under the patronage of Henry IV. When first constructed, it linked directly into the Loire at Montargis, but later in the nineteenth century the building of the famous Briare Aqueduct created a bypass to La Cognardière, 2.6km away. Despite its name, the aqueduct actually forms part of the Canal latéral à la Loire.

An Engineering Triumph

The canal was also the first to be constructed at summit level using “pound locks”, which feature a chamber with gates at either end to control the height of the water within. (Before then locks were created with a single gate.) A summit level canal first rises and then falls along its course, and in the case of the 57km Canal de Briare, it rises through 12 locks before falling through another 24 on an 85m descent.

During construction a number of artificial lakes were created in order to feed water into the locks. At the most precipitous location, Rogny, it was necessary to build what was in effect a “staircase” of seven locks in order to navigate the fall of the canal. While it was without a doubt an outstanding feat of engineering, the design caused huge hold-ups as each vessel had to navigate all seven locks before the next was able to pass through. In the end the staircase of locks was abandoned and the canal re-routed to bypass them, but the town was later renamed Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses in their honour.

Attractions en Route

Along with the locks at Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses, the many other attractions along the course of the canal make it a popular route for the itinerary of a barge holiday in France. In Montargis, one of the most renowned local businesses to have put this pretty town on the map is the Mazet Praline Shop. The confectioner still makes its praline treats to the recipe of founder, Leon Mazet, who opened the shop in 1903. As well as a range of chocolates and other delicacies, the shop is famous for its signature caramelised almond, the Prasline Mazet de Montargis.

Situated in the commune of Saint-Fargeau, the magnificent seventeenth-century Renaissance-style Château de Saint Fargeau is the cultural centrepiece of the region, with its chequered history dating back some one thousand years. Its present distinctive pentagonal construction surrounded by six imposing towers is built on top of an original fortress commissioned by Héribert, son of King Hugh Capet. Even though it is privately owned, many parts of the castle are open for public visitation.

From Ancient Trade to Modern Leisure

For many centuries the Canal de Briare existed as an important channel to transport coal, wood, wine and other supplies from the Loire Valley to Paris. Today, this beautiful waterway serves as one of the most appealing locations to explore on a barge holiday in France.

Paul Newman is the Marketing and E-Systems Executive for European Waterways, the UK’s most respected provider for those looking for an all-inclusive, luxury barge holiday in France or other great destinations in Europe. Part of a team of experienced barging aficionados, Paul is first in line to endorse the perks of a slow-paced barge cruise to anyone looking for a unique holiday experience.

Impact of FCO Travel Advice for your Insurance

Impact of FCO Travel Advice for your Insurance

Today’s journey can almost be described as science. Where many ordinary people think romantic about being careful of the wind and fearlessly embark on adventures with the unknown, we now have to sprinkle those impulsive impulses with careful doses and healthy common sense.
Thank goodness you do not have to pack a crystal ball in your suitcase to ‘get to know’. The miracle of modern technology will give you all the information you need. While traveling to some of the few rare hidden gems in the world such as the Middle East, travel insurance is a must, and it is best to read all the prints well.

Impact of FCO Travel Advice for your Insurance

Play by rules

The world is still, most definitely, a beautiful oyster, full of enormous experience and curiosity. Many travelers feel attracted to less standard goals in pursuit of a truly authentic experience. Since many of these places are not considered ‘typical tourist destinations’, their landscape, culture and way of life are all untouched by the modern western world.

However, when visiting these countries, it is even more important to examine their laws, regulations, and customs before traveling to ensure your own safety and to respect your host. For example, during a visit to the Middle East, travel insurance is an absolute must but so also recognize and respect local traditions in terms of dress, behavior and behavior.

Feasibility test Impact of FCO Travel Advice for your Insurance

Once you’ve researched your proposed goal, it’s time to read all the nice prints on your travel insurance. Should often refer to the FCO website (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) to get the latest report on the physical and political status of any destination country. Fortunately, these updates are easily accessible by computers and phones these days, so stay alert and alert before and during your visit can be second nature.

Also, know that the travel insurance industry, with your best interests, also monitors and follows all recommended FCO travel guides. So, if the FCO says ‘do not go’, you will not be able to afford a decent and comprehensive travel insurance for that purpose.

hot spot

If your destination is in the Middle East, travel insurance may be very expensive and may exclude certain geographical areas of your plan. For example, currently the FCO has advised against all trips to Yemen. Although beaches and landscaping such as in Yemen, civil conflict and terrorist attacks in the country have marked them as an official ‘no-go’ zone. FCO even went so far as to suggest all the foreigners to leave as soon as possible. As a result, no matter how much you decide to spend your Christmas on one of the idyllic beaches in Yemen, you will not be able to buy travel insurance, and it may be difficult to find travel options to the country.

Another suggestion of FCO is more precise and detailed. If you travel to Jordan in the Middle East, travel insurance may be available but may have geographic limits for coverage within the country. FCO is very cautious when visiting Jordan in general, but raises their warning for an area 3 km from the rest of Syria. The potential for wild mortars, small arms fire and terrorist attacks have increased in recent months and pose significant risks to residents and visitors.

Stay alert

FCO is an excellent source of up-to-date information on the political and geographic status of any destination. Most travelers prefer not to put themselves at risk when traveling, especially when traveling for pleasure. The FCO monitors the pulse of world conflict so that travelers can make wise decisions about their safety. Unfortunately, until there is political unrest and violence in the Middle East, travel insurance will remain high or may not be available. The beauty of these countries must wait to be discovered.

Will luxury yachting go green

Will luxury yachting go green

Driven by electric propulsion and a radical aesthetic, the EAU concept electric luxury yacht by Tjep, reimagines a cleaner future for the luxury yacht industry…
The impact of leisure boating on marine environments is a well-documented problem. Even as regulations seek to alleviate the issue, engine emissions and the incorrect disposal of waste by yachts contribute to marine pollution. Dutch designer Frank Tjepkema proposes to veto this with the introduction of the EAU concept electric luxury yacht.

Considering the growing projection of the automobile industry towards electrically-operated vehicles, Frank anticipates the same influence in the yacht building industry. He prophesies that although the pace of progress is extremely low, developments in areas such as electric cargos, hydrogen trucks and electric cars (TESLA) will find their way to the luxury yacht industry ultimately, by increasing the availability of large volume on-board electricity storage and charging points in ports. In such a scenario, questions Frank, “Would it not be nice if the leisure category, where there’s an abundance of capital, would lead the way? Why should enjoyment be combined with heavy pollution?”

Taking a step in the desired direction, Frank has conceptualised EAU to precision – at a length of 63 m, width of 13.5 m and beam of 18 m. Designed to have 100% electric propulsion with a speed of 25 knots, the yacht will host 12 cabins, a swimming pool and a helipad, its hull and superstructure crafted from aluminium. The future for a green yacht industry looks bright since Tjep. has been shortlisted for Yacht Concept over 40 Metres Award in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2018.

But, the EAU yacht isn’t just at the technological frontier of this industry; it also floats aesthetic qualities that represent the ultimate in cleanliness. Pushing simplicity and refinement to its limit, the design is inspired by the qualities of water. The design’s most striking element is a water droplet-shaped wheelhouse that floats like an abstract sculpture above the deck. The yacht also uses familiar elements from traditional yacht craftsmanship, such as the way in which wooden planks form the layered lines along the hull of wooden ships.

Selecting a Bank to Check Services

Selecting a Bank to Check Services

When it comes to building and managing wealth, the bank can be a great partner or a terrible obstacle. Finding the right bank for your needs is one of the most important things you can do in your financial security quest. For some reason, the world of finance seems almost opaque as medical and, to manage it, you must find banks that are willing to be transparent and spend time explaining their policies to you. If your bank does not seem interested in working together, it’s time to find a new bank offering checkpoint services in Milwaukee. Selecting a Bank to Check Services

Read Your Contract

The most important thing you can do when choosing a bank is to read your contract! Although they are far from interesting literature and can take a bit of decoding, they explain how your bank functions. If your bank tries to hide costs, you can bet you will find it buried deep inside this document, but you should read it to find it. If you sign a contract without reading it, you are locked out and there is nothing you can do to do it. So make sure to read it, even if it will take a few days. You should also be warned that just because the employee who sells your account says there are no hidden costs, does not mean there are actually no hidden costs.

Request a Fee Schedule

In addition to reading the contract, you may want to request a fee schedule. Not all banks have documents with information ready to use, but some do. Cost schedules should include things like monthly maintenance fees, overdraft fees, and transaction fees. If the bank does not have documents handling the matter, you really have the right to explicitly ask about them. No one, even a bank is entitled to get your money without you knowing about it.

Golden egg

Selecting a Bank to Check Services

To be honest, there are many banks out there who are honest about goodness, have no hidden costs. They let you keep your checking account without charging monthly maintenance fees, you let you trade as much as you need without charging any extra fees, and they allow you to use your savings account to cover your own overdraft charge. If you can find a bank that operates that way, chances are you’ve found the right bank. However, you should always remember that not all banks are created equal and while some have a large cost schedule, there may not be all the bells and whistles you want.

Have Realistic Expectations

However, if you can not find a bank that allows you to do all of those things, you may want to see what they are paying for and whether there is a way to address those costs. For example, it is very common for banks to request that you keep a minimum balance in your checking account to avoid monthly maintenance costs. Plus here is that you can avoid that fee, the bad news is you have money tied up in your account. It is now up to you to decide whether the minimum balance is something you can live with. A minimum balance of $ 100 or less is generally considered reasonable and you are not inferior to having many tied up in a checking account. Another thing to look at is the monthly fee if you can not keep that much in check. If it’s $ 3, you really have nothing to lose. If $ 20 and you live paycheck, you may want to consider taking the business elsewhere. All of these factors play an important role in how happy you are with your Milwaukee inspection service.
